We're Hiring for 2026

Job Title: Part-time Seasonal Farmhand

Job Overview:

*Note: this is a seasonal position that runs from May 4, 2026 through Oct 9, 2025

Dogwood is hiring! We are looking for a dependable and hardworking individual to join Dogwood as a summer farmhand on our cut flower farm.

The perfect candidate for this role is someone who:

  • Is over 18 (we need a responsible adult with reliable transportation)

  • Loves being outdoors in all weather (planting in the cold and harvesting in the heat is no joke!)

  • Doesn't mind early morning hours (harvesting starts at 7:00am!)

  • Can work independently (pop a podcast in your earbuds and knock out the day's task)

  • Can work quickly (efficiency is so key here!)

  • Isn't afraid of animals (hello free-range chickens, dogs and roosters)

  • Won't judge our messy house (the work/life blend is real here lol)

  • Is reliable (harvesting never slows down here!)

We are willing to train the right person if you have no previous experience with plants. Personality fit, work ethic, trainability and reliability are what we are looking for on our small family farm.

Pay: $17/hr

Schedule - 9 hours/week, MWF 7:30 am - 10:30 am (position to start April 27, 2026)

Main Responsibilities:

  • Harvesting & Processing flowers (Main responsibility):

    • Harvest blooms, ensuring that flowers are picked at the optimal stage of maturity and quality.

    • Process and prepare harvested flowers for market, including trimming stems, removing foliage, and sorting blooms.

    • Accurately record harvest numbers on a shared Google spreadsheet

    • Transport buckets of flowers to cooler.

    • This will be most/all of the day's work from late-May through early October.

  • Planting: Plant seedlings and plants in the field (even if it's cold!)

  • Weeding: We have lots of weeds here. lol

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with plants is preferred but not required.

  • Physical stamina and ability to perform strenuous outdoor tasks in various weather conditions (flower buckets are heavy!).

  • Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn and follow farm protocols.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

  • Good communication skills and the ability to take direction

  • Comfortable with and kind to animals (we have chickens, ducks, goats, sheep and dogs who are out and about during our work day)

Serious applicants should send resume with a few sentences about why you are interested in this position to Kendra at dogwoodfarmswi@gmail.com. Deadline for applications is April 1, 2026.

We look forward to finding our newest team member!
