Happy Valentine's Day, Flower Friends! 💕
Is anyone else craving a little sweetness and color during these gray February days? I thought I'd spread some Valentine's joy by sharing my favorite naturally pink frosting recipe that's been brightening up our farmhouse kitchen lately!
What makes this recipe special? The gorgeous pink color comes entirely from freeze-dried strawberries—no artificial food coloring needed! Mother Nature provides the most beautiful hues, after all.

I first made this for my brother's birthday cake a few weeks ago, and it was such a hit that I knew I had to share it with you all. The best part? It's surprisingly simple to make!
Natural Strawberry Frosting
What You'll Need:
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
8 oz cream cheese (1 block), softened
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
4 cups powdered sugar
1.2 oz freeze-dried strawberries (I found mine at Aldi near the nuts section!)
Food processor or blender
Instructions:
In a mixer, combine the softened butter and cream cheese, beating until smooth and creamy.
Add the vanilla extract and salt, then stir well to incorporate.
With your mixer on low speed, gradually add the powdered sugar until fully combined.
Use a food processor to grind your freeze-dried strawberries into a very fine powder (the finer the powder, the smoother your frosting!).
Start by mixing in about half the strawberry powder, then taste and add more as desired. These little berries pack quite a flavor punch, so you can adjust to your preferred level of strawberry goodness!
Spread or pipe your beautiful pink creation onto cakes or cupcakes.
This frosting pairs beautifully with angel food cake for a light, berry-forward dessert, or with chocolate cupcakes for something a bit more decadent. The tangy cream cheese base balances the sweetness perfectly, making it a more sophisticated version of the classic buttercream.
A Little Valentine's Joy
There's something so heartwarming about bringing natural color and sweetness into our homes during the middle of winter. Whether you're celebrating with a special someone, gathering with friends, or simply treating yourself (always a good idea!), I hope this little recipe brings some joy to your Valentine's weekend.
